High School Dancers to Star at Game this Weekend
April 19, 2006A dance troop from a local high school has been selected to provide crowd entertainment at the Shell Shockers home game this weekend.
The High Steppers are the first teenagers to be given the chance to perform in front of hundreds of soccer fans during the inaugural Shell Shockers’ half-time show.
The pupils from Archbishop Chapelle High School in Metairie will also cheer on the team from the stands during the game against Christian Brothers at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner at 7pm.
The Shell Shockers are targeting suburban “soccer mums” and have lined-up dance outfits from other local schools to appear at home games throughout the season.
Head Coach Kenny Farrell explained: “This is part of our on-going plan to reach out to the community and attract kids, teenagers and adults to games.
“When fans come to watch us we want to make sure they have a day to remember and aim to provide them with a fun-filled, family atmosphere.”
