Shell Shockers Fall to Heat 2-1
New Orleans Shell Shockers: 1 (Ray 50)
Laredo Heat: 2 (Morales 4, Galvan 84)
Laredo, TX (June 9, 2007) – After a lightning-delayed start, the New Orleans Shell Shockers fell to the Laredo Heat 2-1. The game featured numerous yellow cards but neither team could take control until the Heat put away the game winner in the 84th minute.
-FIRST HALF-
4th minute: GOAL Off of a seemingly harmless throw-in, the slick artificial turf comes into play as Isaac Morales throw-in bounces around the 10-yd mark and slides into the goal. Heat 1, Shell Shockers 0.
8th minute: After a Laredo handball in the box, the Shockers are awarded a penalty kick. PJ Kee stepped up to the spot but his shot to the left is saved by goalkeeper Ryan Cooper. The rebound comes out but Josh Couvillion is not able to put his shot on frame.
30th minute: After several misdirecting moves, a point-blank, left-footed shot by Morales on the left side is snuffed out by Shell Shockers ‘keeper Dustyn Brim.
41st minute: After Brim came off his line to try to snuff the Heat's attack, Ged Quinn is forced to clear the ball of the line and out of bounds on an Infante shot.
-SECOND HALF-
50th minute: GOAL PJ Kee takes a hard shot from 15 yards out that is saved by Cooper. He couldn’t keep a handle on it though and forward Gino Ray was there to tap home the ball from a tough angle on the left side. Heat 1, Shell Shockers 1.
53rd minute: Jacob Almack receives a pass and takes a shot from the top of the 18 yard box that sales just over the crossbar. Two minutes later Jose Macias unleashes his own shot from the left hand side of the penalty area but that attempt also misses high.
76th minute: The Heat are on the attack and spring Felix Garcia, who had just entered the match. Garcia sends a floating header towards the goal from 8 yards out but Dustyn Brim is able to stretch high to thwart the attempt.
84th minute: GOAL Daniel Galvan hits a rocket from 22 yards out that eludes Brim and tucks inside the far post. Heat 2, Shell Shockers 1.
