Shell Shockers and Capitals Reach 0-0 Tie
June 3, 2007Baton Rouge, LA (June 3, 2007) – In the aptly named ‘Battle of the Bayou’, the New Orleans Shell Shockers and Baton Rouge Capitals slugged out a 0-0 tie on Saturday night. Both teams had chances but neither could get the go-ahead goal. The Battle of the Bayou standings now have the New Orleans Shell Shockers with four points and the Baton Rouge Capitals with one.
- FIRST HALF -
9th minute: After coming off his line, Dustyn Brim is forced to make two defensive plays, first by denying a shot by Joseph Lapira, then by kicking away Tony Judice’s effort.
26th minute: Jamie Davies’ free kick from 30 yards out curls perfectly towards the back post but the Capitals’ Anthony Peters heads the ball harmlessly over the endline. The resulting corner kick is up for grabs but Baton Rouge goalkeeper Scott Rosman comes down cleanly with the ball.
35th minute: Off of a corner kick, Jarrett Gautreau gets a clear header but the ball sails just over the bar.
40th minute: Brim is called back into service when Tony Judice takes Ged Quinn one on one. After cutting the ball back to his left, Judice’s shot is on target but Brim makes the diving save to keep the game level.
- SECOND HALF -
53rd minute: Adam Gold sheds his defender on the right sideline and curls a cross into the 18 yard box. PJ Kee’s attempt at a diving header glances out of bounds, past the far post.
60th minute: On a free kick from 25 yards out, Lapira puts a well-placed ball on goal but Brim is there once again to make the save.
74th minute: Josh Couvillion shakes his defender about 20 yards out on the right side, takes two strides towards goal and unleashes a right-footed shot that caroms off the top of the crossbar and out of bounds for a goal kick.
80th minute: Off a Jamie Davies’ corner kick, Luke Tyburski gets his first shot of the season but his header is off target.
