Shell Shockers Hope to Electrify Fans with Win on Saturday
July 5, 2007
Determined for a win, the New Orleans Shell Shockers (3-4-5) will take to the field on Saturday to battle the Austin Lightning (3-6-1) for crucial points necessary for securing a playoff berth. After surviving last week’s exhausting schedule of three games in five days, and with a thrilling win against the Mississippi Brilla still fresh in their minds; the Shell Shockers are confident in their chances for a win on Saturday.
Despite suffering a 3-1 loss to the Lightning earlier this season; the Shell Shockers have debuted a new offensive strategy that could be key to triumphing over Austin. Recently displaying moments of brilliance in their last few games; the Shell Shockers appear as if they have found the offensive attack that has been alluding them for most of the season.
"We are getting down to the last few games of the season and it's imperative that we get a win this weekend," comments Shell Shockers General Manager Amanda Miller. "Everyone is 100% focused on securing a playoff spot. With the recent form we've displayed, I have no doubt our goal is still reachable."
Saturday's match will kick off at 7:30PM at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner. The match will be the first of three straight home games that the Shell Shockers will host this month. The remaining two matches are scheduled for July 13th, and 14th.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
New Orleans Shell Shockers -
After posting two goals and a staggering four assists last week; New Orleans’ leading-scorer Gino Ray is a man to watch in Saturday’s game. The lightning-quick forward leads the Shell Shockers in goals scored (4); having capitalized on crosses from teammates Davies, Quinn, Hayers, and Chagnard.
Josh Couvillion, a New Orleans native, is another player to watch this Saturday. The twenty four year-old forward, seems to have found his scoring boots; having posted two goals in the past two games.
Austin Lightning-
The New Orleans defense will have to be quick to thwart Austin’s Nicholas “Salome” Torres. Not only does Torres lead his team in shots (20), he leads his team in goals scored, having found the net three times this season.
