Shell Shockers Announce Dates of Open Trials
February 12, 2007The New Orleans Shell Shockers will hold open try-outs on Saturday, March 3rd, at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. The trials, which are open to the public, are intended to attract the best regional club, high school, and collegiate talent.
Every year, head coach Kenny Farrell selects the best local talent to join his squad of veteran and international players in 2007 season games.
Although try-outs will begin at 11am, athletes are advised to arrive 45 minutes early in order to complete registration which includes a $25 training fee. Selected talent will be invited back the following weekend to second-round auditions with new and returning team members.
Chosen players will be asked to sign with the Shell Shockers and compete in their regular season games throughout the summer. The New Orleans Shell Shockers are a member of the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League. The professional setting of United Soccer’s PDL provides players with an opportunity to gain top-notch experience without losing collegiate eligibility.
The Shockers play in the highly competitive Mid-South Division of the Southern Conference, against teams from Baton Rouge, Austin, Dallas, Laredo, and El-Paso. The Shell Shocker’s organization is committed to developing local talent while striving to bring US soccer to the world stage.
