Shell Shockers Unveil New Websites and Spanish-Language Radio Show
August 23, 2006
The New Orleans Shell Shockers today officially unveil two new dramatic website redesigns and a Spanish-language radio show to compliment their existing program in English.
Tens of thousands of dollars have been spent overhauling the team’s site at www.noshellshockers.com, as well as that of their Harahan sports complex base at www.riversideindoorsoccer.com. Both sites have been enhanced by Mudbug Media, one of the most talented internet companies in the city, and contain many new pages and features.
A History Page now lists details on every competitive game the side has ever played, along with league tables and attendances going back to the club’s formation in 2003. There are photographs and information about the squad and staff, as well as a Media Kit archiving every press release put out this year. A Photo Gallery feature means fans and media can download a range of high-quality images.
The Riverside site has also been given a complete makeover and is now updated daily. A Schedule Page lists every individual side’s fixture list for the whole season so that the hundreds of players who compete in leagues every night know what time their games are.
Meanwhile the Shell Shockers are targeting the huge Hispanic soccer-loving community which has flocked to the city since Katrina. They have started an hour-long Spanish-language radio show which airs at 7pm on Wednesdays on the 8:30am La Fabulosa station.
Called ‘The Show of the New Orleans Shell Shockers’ it is presented by Peruvian native Carlos Inca, a well-known and respected soccer expert with decades of experience of on-air presenting. With Kenny Farrell’s ‘Shell Shockers’ Soccer Hour’ on Biz Radio 990 on Mondays at 8pm, it means the club are broadcasting in two different languages every week.
Shell Shockers’ President Michael Balluff said: “We have invested a lot of money into the latest cutting-edge technology to ensure our fans in Louisiana, evacuated sports lovers across the States, and indeed soccer supporters throughout the world can keep up to date with everything we are doing.
“We have held discussions with Cox Communications about starting our own TV show and that is our next goal as we strive to spread the Shell Shockers’ message ever further. We have big plans and we want to ensure we keep our fans informed - these are exciting times for soccer in New Orleans.”
